Birthday Fun

The Birthday Boy

It's true.  Our baby boy is ONE, and he's really not a baby anymore.  He's walking and jabbering and he can and will get into anything and everything.  He quacks like a duck. He moos like a cow.  He's silly and smiley for sure, but this little stinker still won't sleep through the night.  We're working on that.

This past Saturday we hosted a Pirate birthday party (Arrrrr!) for both Oliver and Henry. Being that their birthdays are only a month apart we thought we'd put on one big bash to celebrate both of our swashbucklers.  We were joined by family and friends from near and far and are so grateful for everyone who was here to party on with us.

Make a wish, Mateys!

We had a fun time with all of our guests.  Brian made cardboard ships and we sailed the seven seas.  We played Pin the Parrot on the Pirate.  We walked the plank.  Avast, ye scurvy dogs!

The morning after the party Oliver wanted to have breakfast at the pirate table still set up in the kitchen.  What a treat the boys thought that was!

The weekend before the big party we took a trip to Chicago.  Two of our friends from Denmark were going to be in Chicago for a few days and we took the opportunity to see them.  We had fun strolling through Millennium Park, but we were chased inside the Art Institute by a thunderstorm.  There we discovered a new, super fun, and FREE family center. After the storm passed we dried off and filled up at Intelligentsia Coffee.  Brian had always wanted to find this coffee shop while we lived in the area but we never made it.  This was the perfect chance for Brian to go and for us to show our friends a bit of homemade Chicago.

A trip to Chicago would not be complete without a Duffy visit.  They recently took out their swing set and replaced it with a very big trampoline.  Oliver was in heaven.

We also spent some fun time with our friends Amanda and Anthony.  They took some amazing birthday photos of the boys.  There will be more to come, but I offer this little preview of our guys:
