What better way to start the holiday weekend than with a birthday party? On Saturday we helped cousin Mikayla celebrate her 4th birthday. The boys couldn't get enough of the bouncy house/water slide. It was the perfect way to keep cool on a hot afternoon. Happy Birthday, Mikayla!
From the party we set off for Cedar Rapids to visit Grandma Sara and Grandpa Steve. We spent Sunday morning at a park where the boys splashed at the splash pad and climbed around at the playground. We finished off the morning with a picnic in the park.
After lunch we explored the NewBo City Market - a very cool public market with more kinds of food than you can imagine. Next, we visited the BRAND NEW Cedar Rapids Public Library. It is a very fun and modern building filled with fun books, books, and more books! Ollie loved finding cozy nooks to read in.
We took a little snack break at the coffee shop in the library and the boys enjoyed a story time with Grandma Sara.
Monday morning we spent a little time putt-putting at the golf course before we packed up the van for the trip home. On our way out of town we got to stop in and see Grandma Sara's classroom. Oliver led us in some school activities, and then the boys had a blast exploring the music classroom. We had so much fun with them and we are glad we could make the trip to see them!
On the way home we made an impromptu stop at Seed Savers Exchange near Decorah. The boys burned off some energy and explored the gardens. It was a good way to bring a very fun weekend to a close!
