Remembering Great Grandma Merkey

Last week Brian's grandmother passed away after a battle with cancer.  We knew she was sick and we knew this day would come, but after being diagnosed this summer her decline was faster than any of us had expected or hoped it would be.  

Grandma made the best oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that you could imagine.  She loved playing Scrabble.  Brian always had a game going with her online.  When we lived in Denmark, just before Oliver was born, she and Grandpa took a Norwegian cruise along with Grandma's brother and sister. Grandma and Grandpa visited us in Copenhagen before their cruise.  Grandma was in the middle of crocheting a blanket for Oliver but hadn't been able to finish it before they left. She spent her time on the cruise crocheting away in order to finish the blanket for Ollie. She finished it, and Uncle David and Aunt Reba were able to deliver it to us in the Copenhagen airport on their way back home. 

Grandma Merkey was gentle, kind, and loving.  We will miss her so much.
