This past weekend we had a pumpkin-carving party at my parents' house. We all had grand plans for our pumpkins, and most of those plans actually turned out great!

Breanna and the guts
The pumpkins had been sitting outside for a few cold and frosty nights, so the insides were really cold. (Note to self: next year, bring the pumpkins in to warm up before carving!) Breanna had a fun time touching the "slimy guts".

The carving team: Brian, Dad, Bre, Amy, Joey and Sam
Joey chose the most massive pumpkin to carve. It came from my cousin Angie's pumpkin patch, and it had cross-bred with a cantaloupe. The wall was about 5 inches thick, so it was really tough to carve, but it smelled yummy - just like a melon!

Get in there, Bre!

Time to bring out the power tools
Yes, I used a drill to carve my pumpkin. I had started out carving Bert and Ernie and it really didn't turn out at all. Plan B: Carve a giant hole in the pumpkin to get rid of Bert and Ernie. Then I drilled holes all over the pumpkin and stuck little marbles in them for a cool glow.

Here they are - our masterpieces!
