It was another road-trip weekend for us. This time the destination was Maquoketa, Iowa, where Brian's Grandpa Peterson would be celebrating his 80th birthday, and Grandma Peterson, her 83rd. We left Friday afternoon and stopped in Pleasant Prairie, Iowa, where my cousin Melissa lives with her husband, Jon, and their adorable little peanut, Mikayla. Ollie and Mikayla had a great time playing together. Ollie is a little older than Mikayla and he tried to be a little pushy at times, but Mikayla held her ground and didn't let Oliver get away with anything. We had a good time catching up with them and seeing how much our babies had grown.

We stayed with Melissa and Jon Friday night. Saturday morning we set out for Maquoketa, which was only about an hour away. Much to Oliver's delight our hotel there had a swimming pool. And not just any swimming pool. This hotel had a kiddie pool, where the water was shallow enough for Oliver to crawl around in. He LOVED it. It was his first time swimming and he had a blast. (And he looked so cute in that Little Swimmer!) His little cousin, Zach, joined him for this swimming adventure. Ollie quickly found out that the swimming room made for a great place to yell and hear your echo. Between that and his splashing he got a little crazy at times. It was fun to see him having such a good time, and it got us excited for the summer pool time around Evanston.

We celebrated the Peterson birthdays with a nice family dinner. All of Brian's aunts were able to be there, so Grandma and Grandpa got to celebrate with all 5 of their girls. After dinner the adults went to a Guy Lombardo concert, while us young'uns went back to the hotel to swim.
Sunday morning we all got together for brunch at Jim and Deana's house. Jamie made a wonderful spread and we had a great time just hanging out with everybody before we all had to go our separate ways again.

Oliver made fast friends with his cousins Jasper and Mason, who fed him all the kringle he wanted. He has learned quickly to follow the food! Jasper and Mason were so good to Oliver and didn't mind having him tag along.
