Halloween with an Olliephant

We were so happy to have a visit from my Mom and Dad and Breanna (we missed you, Jenny!) at the end of last week.  We had so much fun being together and we had a chance to attend a couple of fun Halloween activities.

Friday we spent some time at Old Orchard Mall and the Botanic Garden.  The weather was a little chilly, but the sunshine felt so good.  Friday night we went to The Little Gym Halloween Party.  Ollie has a class at The Little Gym every Monday morning, which he absolutely loves.  We are used to a small class of 5 or 6 one-year-olds in the gym.  The Halloween party was a little different.  It was busy and noisy and wild but FUN! So many kids in costumes all running, climbing, yelling and jumping around.  What could be better?  Ollie's saggy, baggy elephant wrinkles didn't slow him down at all!

Saturday morning we went back to the Botanic Garden for Trains, Tricks and Treats.  The kids got to wear their costumes again as we walked through the model railroad garden, all decorated for Halloween, to watch the trains and find some treats.  It was another beautiful day.  Breanna and Oliver both loved spotting the trains and checking out all of the miniature representations of American landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, and the White House. I really think Oliver could have spent the entire day there.  There was so much to see and it was all his size!

After we left the garden Mom and Dad and Bre had to leave for Wausau.  After some sad good-byes they were off.  As we always say, we're so happy to have family and friends come to visit.  Thanks for making the trip!

On Sunday, the big Halloween day, we went trick-or-treating with Dave, LaDonna, Cian and Niamh and some of their friends. Cian was a scary zombie and Niamh was Dorothy. Ollie wasn't phased by any of the costumes, no matter how scary.

At first Ollie seemed a little confused.  Why weren't we going in to the houses when people opened their doors for us?  He tried sneaking in to the first couple of places, but it didn't take long for him to catch on to how trick-or-treating worked.  He soon was eagerly holding his bag open for people to drop in the candy.

We had a really fun time walking their neighborhood with them and it was great catching up on how they all are doing. 

It was a fun and busy weekend overall.  We enjoyed being with family and friends.  Oliver loved being an elephant.  Too bad we have to wait until next year to trick-or-treat again!
