Apple Picking, Play Time, and a Hike

It was a glorious weekend here in La Crosse.  We took advantage of the great weather by heading outdoors.  Saturday morning we went to Ferguson's Morningside Orchard.  We picked apples, took a tractor and wagon ride, saw some farm animals, and played in the hay.  We walked through a big pumpkin field but didn't buy any pumpkins quite yet.  Ollie had a blast while little Henry slept through the whole trip.

We made a big pot of chili when we got home, followed by a delicious apple crisp. Yum!  Later that afternoon we had visitors.  Melissa and Mikayla stopped over for a little cousin fun.  Once Mikayla warmed up to us she and Ollie had a great time together.

Just as they were getting ready to leave, my parents drove up.  They were stopping by on their drive along the Mississippi River.  They stayed the night and continued on their way Sunday morning.

Sunday afternoon we set out on a hike.  So many people had been telling us about the great hiking trails in the area, so we decided to go see them for ourselves.  We had a tiring but rewarding hike in the bluffs.  After living in the flat land of Evanston these La Crosse hills were tough, but once we got to the top of the bluff the view was amazing!  We were even able to pick out our house from so high up.

We couldn't have asked for a nicer weekend.  We're glad we were able to take advantage of it and get our fill of fresh air and family fun.
