The End of Summer

Our favorite hangout has closed for the summer, and we are a little bit sad.  We live just a few blocks from a very fun pool, and today was closing day.  It wasn't the warmest of days here, but we still had to go and splash and play just one more time and bid farewell to the water slides until next June.

Oliver and Henry LOVE this place.  Brian would take the boys over to the pool for an hour or so in the evenings after dinner.  On the weekends we'd all go.  Oliver especially liked when all four of us were there because then one of us could watch Henry while the other took him on the water slides.

Both boys seem to be part fish and have taken to the water so easily.  Over the summer Oliver has learned to dunk his head under water and can do pretty well kicking and paddling on his own.  He starts official swim lessons at the Y in just a few weeks.

Henry has learned to walk over the summer, and as this has happened the pool became a bigger and bigger play area for him.  He'd spend his time just walking across the shallow end from one side to the other, back and forth, running his hands (and belly and face) through fountains on the way.

It's hard to believe that summer is coming to an end.  The days have gone by too quickly. We'll miss our pool days, but they sure have given us a lot of great, wet, and sunny memories!  

P.S.  The end of summer means the beginning of fall, and the beginning of fall means the beginning of school!  In just two short weeks Oliver starts preschool, and he is SO excited for that!
