Saturday morning we visited a maple syrup farm. We buy our yummy yummy Kickapoo Gold maple syrup at our farmer's market during the summer, and this past weekend the Kickapoo Gold family hosted a pancake breakfast and tours of their sugar shack. While the sap isn't running quite yet (come on, Spring!) we still got a good lesson on how they collect their sap and turn it into syrup. I was surprised at how complex this process is. The boys were mesmerized by the big machinery.
We took a horse and wagon ride out to the sugar shack after we ate our pancakes. Oliver REALLY wanted to sit up front with the driver. He said he was just like the little boy who got to sit with Santa in his sleigh in The Polar Express.

After the tour we were free to explore the woods and wander through the maze of sap tubing. After a little hiking we stopped to take some fun photos. Oliver took this one of Brian and I. I love it! We just might have a little photographer on our hands.

We ate a delicious breakfast, we learned something new, we played in the woods. What a fun way to spend a Saturday morning!
