Finding a Rhythm for Fall

This fall has brought the start of new adventures for our family: Oliver started kindergarten, Henry started preschool, and Amy started getting 3 mornings a week to herself. We are figuring out our new routines and adjusting to busier days, and we all have a lot to share with one another at the end of each day.

Oliver's school is a beautiful brand new building and is much bigger than he was used to at preschool. It's certainly different for us to drop him off and pick him up at such a busy place! Most of the students in his class were at his preschool and so that has made the transition for all of them a little easier. He has brought a lunch most days but has also given school lunch a try, and he has learned to eat quick enough to finish his lunch in time to play outside. He seems to be having a blast and we love to hear stories from his day. It's just hard to believe he's this old already!

Henry is so excited to be going to school now too. He spent much of last year wishing he could join Oliver in the classroom and has seen the daily routine so many times that he has stepped right into being a preschooler. At drop off Amy has to remind him to give a hug goodbye, he's that excited to be there. He has made a lot of crafts and spends a lot of time doing puzzles.

Amy hasn't had a lot of free mornings yet, but she's been able to breathe a little and also get a lot of little jobs done that would otherwise linger until we had some free time. I think she's amazed at both how long and how short a few hours can seem.

As we settle into our new normal we're finding ourselves more tired than we've been, but it's a good tired full of adventure and new explorations. We are so proud of our boys for how they've taken to this next chapter of their lives, and are so excited to see where the road leads from here.
