Well, another weekend has passed, which meant another weekend of travel for the Merkey family. This time it was to Wausau to celebrate the Confirmation of my Goddaughter Mercedes. Fourteen years ago we stood in front of that same altar and celebrated her Baptism. I have a hard time believing so many years have passed. Wasn't it just yesterday that she was in my guided reading group when I taught first grade? She has grown from a cute little button-nosed baby to a beautiful and talented young lady. I am so proud of her.
Oliver had some good times with family this weekend. He was SO excited to see Breanna again. I thought for sure this would be the weekend he would just get up and take off after her. Oh well, maybe next time. And soon enough we'll have Zach joining the mix and we'll be in for some wild times with the cousins. It's always hard to leave when we have such great family weekends. But Brian and I are both grateful that we live close enough that we can go home for a weekend and spend time with everyone. The weekends home are short but sweet.
