Paul and Mireille drove down from Milwaukee Saturday afternoon for a quick weekend visit. Saturday night we dined at Penny's Noodle Shop, which is one of our favorite places to eat. We were (or maybe I should say I was) SO excited to see that a new Penny's opened up just a 15 minute drive north of our place. The closest Penny's used to be a 20-30 minute drive down into the city, which could be a pretty hectic drive with traffic. Going north is much easier. So north we went, and after dinner we took a nice evening walk through the Botanic Gardens.

Sunday morning we took the train into Chicago. It was a scorcher of a day, but we managed to sweat our way through some of the city's sights. We walked to The Bean and then to Navy Pier for GreenFest. GreenFest was a big expo with a lot of speakers and vendors promoting more sustainable living. We sampled some tasty organic snacks and browsed through booths showcasing all kinds of organic and natural products.

When we left the Chicago area in 2008 this building, Aqua, was in the process of being built near the lake between Navy Pier and Millennium Park. This weekend we finally got to see the finished product. It is definitely one of our favorite buildings downtown. The waviness of it makes it look like water rippling in the breeze.

One of the vendors at GreenFest was handing out fake mustaches as part of their advertising and Oliver found them hilarious. It tickled his little nose but he loved it.
We had a lot of fun with Paul and Mireille and are so glad they came down for the weekend. It was a good kick-off to the busy summer we have ahead of us!
