We had a great trip out to Rhode Island and Massachusetts this past weekend. Our friends Lisa and Mark were married on Saturday in Worcester, Massachusetts (pronounced Woosta, for all our fellow non-East Coast friends). We took advantage of the opportunity and extended our trip an extra day so that we could visit my family in Westport, Mass.
We flew in to Providence, Rhode Island and stayed there Thursday night. Providence has the cutest little downtown area. We ate lunch at a great deli called Farmstead and I did a little shopping at Craftland, a store where local artists sell their wares. Friday morning we got in our rental car and headed out to Westport.

We are so glad we were able to get together with Joyce and Chuck, and we were really happy to see some of my more distant cousins as well. My cousin Scott started right in on teaching Oliver the way of the Harley.

Chuck and Joyce are in the midst of adding a big addition onto their house. Luckily it was a beautiful day so we could spend our time together out on the front porch, watching the butterflies and soaking in the smell of the flowering trees.

Friday night we drove up to Boston, where we stayed with our friend Christine. She was in town for the wedding too, and was staying at her sister's place. Her sister was out of town for a wedding herself, so we crashed with Christine in her sister's apartment in the gorgeous Beacon Hill neighborhood. Beacon Hill is a very European-looking neighborhood. The streets are narrow and hilly, the buildings all tight together. This was beautiful, but it made for difficult parking. It took an hour to find a place we could park overnight. Luckily we had our friend Raf in the car with us, directing us and telling us stories of the plethora of parking in the area back when he was in high school. Next time we visit Boston we will be taking public transportation! Late Friday night we caste our votes in a pizza taste-off with Christine and our friends Vilas, Margo and Raf. There was a somewhat long-standing feud over which Boston pizza joint made the best pizza: Pino's or Presto's. Presto's won decisively in our book. It was all in the sauce.

Ready to celebrate
Saturday was the wedding. We drove from Boston to Worcester, where Brian and Christine barely made it to the ceremony on time. The ceremony was baby-free, so Oliver and I visited the Worcester Art Museum during this time. It was right across the street from the church, so that worked out perfectly for us. We saw a very fun exhibit on Rock and Roll photography.

After the ceremony we set out for the reception. This wedding was pretty much a reunion of many of our Northwestern friends from our first stint in Evanston. It was so fun to see everyone again. Oliver was a trooper all throughout the day. He loved the live band. He danced and shook his little booty into the night.

Though we stayed in Boston, we really did not have a chance to see any of the city. We definitely want to go back sometime and see some of the historic sights. Although this was a short trip, we packed it full of family and friends. Oliver was SO good on all of our flights. We couldn't have asked for him to be any better. Thanks for a fun visit, Page family! Congratulations, Lisa and Mark! And thank you, Christine, for giving us a place to stay!
