Of Royalty and Taco Shops

On Saturday we set out for the Copenhagen Botanic Gardens (Botanisk Have) and Rosenborg Castle.  I had been to the Botanic Garden when we were here in June while Brian was busy with his course.  I wanted to take Brian there to see it himself.  It's a beautiful garden. It's only the size of about one city block, but when you are there you forget that you are in the city. It's green and woodsy with streams and ponds throughout. This photo shows the main building reflected in a pond.

After walking through the garden we decided it was time for lunch.  We came across this restaurant...The Taco Shop #3.  When we were here in June we had dinner at The Taco Shop #2, and it was pretty good.  #3 is a little bit bigger (with room for 10 people at most to sit and eat) and the food is just as tasty.  We're not sure how many of these there are here, but we'll keep an eye out for them!  We know there's got to at least be a #1 out there somewhere...

After filling ourselves with chimichangas and burritos we toured Rosenborg Castle.  It was built in 1606 by Christian IV as a summer house in the countryside.  Now, it's in the heart of the city.  It was the Royal Residence until 1720 when it became the royal storehouse.  In 1838 it opened as a public museum.  We toured 3 floors of the castle - here you see the throne room.  We also toured the Treasury, which is kept in the basement of the castle.  There the Danish royal crowns and the crown jewels are kept.
