Zoologisk Have (The Zoo)

This afternoon we made a trip back to the Frederiksberg neighborhood to visit the Copenhagen Zoo. This is a place we've always wanted to visit before leaving, and with only a few weekends left we figured we'd better get there now. The weather was perfect for a trip: cool with a nice breeze and, most importantly, no rain. (Of course this meant the zoo was crowded, but we can take that.)

We saw a lot of animals there: the elephants we first saw a few days ago, hippopotamuses, mama & baby tigers, lions, a very tall grizzly bear, some reindeer, a musk ox, some wolves, large flamingoes, giant tortoises, giraffes, and a red panda (we both agree this was our favorite to watch).

All the animals were very active and so that made the trip a lot of fun. (I don't know if they feed them energy pills or if the weather was conducive to playing around, but we don't remember the animals at any other zoo being this active. It was very nice.) One thing we really liked about this zoo was that the animal habitats were all very big and seemed well thought-out and appropriate for each animal; they weren't just barren cages. Sometimes zoos are hard to visit because the animals seem so forlorn, but this zoo was different. So that made us happy.

Of the 4 hours we spent at the zoo, Oliver was awake for nearly 30 minutes. We think he saw an elephant, but otherwise saw only the inside of his eyelids. I carried him around for about 3 hours of his nap (by choice; we did have the pram along), and this might have been the best part of the whole trip.
