We had a very hot but festive 4th of July yesterday. My parents stopped by for a visit after they had been to see Paul in Milwaukee. They got here right in time to watch the parade. Little by little our party grew as we staked out our spot on the curb. Our friends Lisa and Mark were here, Barth and Chalida and their kids came over, and so did our old neighbors Paul, Lisa and Evan. Thank goodness for shade, because it was a hot one.

Oliver enjoyed wandering amongst our group and watching the parade. He loved seeing all of the firetrucks, dogs, horses, and marching bands. Every time we see this parade we think, "That was a really fun parade", and it was true this year again. Evanston does it well! After the parade we enjoyed a quiet night with my parents and they set off for home this morning.
