Memorial Weekend

This past weekend we spent some time in Duluth and Wausau and even had a little time left over for a quick outing here in La Crosse.  It was a busy weekend with lots of driving, but we got to see some great friends and our families.

Friday and Saturday we were in Duluth visiting our friend Megan and her mom.  As always, they host with the most and fed us enough delicious food for an army.  The boys quickly found the toy closet and they were set.  We went to a few garage sales on Saturday before the rain started, and then we were stuck inside for the rest of the visit. Rain or shine, we had a super fun time in Duluth.

Cheese!  I think I sort of might like dogs... just a little bit... when they're sleeping.
Oliver was a little nervous of the dogs, but Mocha and Cheddar put him at ease most of the time.  He's still talking about them so I think they managed to find their way into his heart.

Sunday morning we packed up and drove to Wausau.  We spent the afternoon and evening with the Merkeys.  Everyone was in town for the holiday weekend, and it was great to see them all.  (Completely forgot about the camera...grrr...no photos of this get-together.)  Ollie and Zach had fun with the sprinkler while Henry and Kyiah hung out and jabbered together.

We spent Monday morning with my family before heading back to La Crosse.  The boys and Breanna were able to get some outside fun in and before we knew it it was time to head home.

Our house was toasty warm when we got home, so we cranked up the air conditioner and left for a mini family adventure.  We had dinner at Rudy's Drive-In (complete with waitresses wearing poodle skirts and roller skates!) and then drove up to Grandad Bluff (or as Ollie was calling it, Daddy Buffalo). Since we moved here last summer the lookout at Grandad Bluff was closed for renovations.  It's finally open again and it is REALLY nice.  We enjoyed the great view of La Crosse.  It was the perfect way to wind down our busy weekend and say, "Phew. We're home!".
