For Thanksgiving last fall we were invited to visit my friend Francisco in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, where we cooked a nice meal for a bunch of his friends. This week Fran made a trip to Copenhagen for a small conference at DTU, and so we had the chance to visit with him again and show him around the area. After brief tours and visits on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, he had Thursday free so we spent the day in Copenhagen. We climbed the Rådhus (city hall) tower, which I hadn't done before and which made for wonderful views of the city. Also at the Rådhus we said hello to a famous Dane, Niels Bohr.
We walked sections of the Strøget pedestrian street, visited a lighting exhibit at the Danish Design Center, walked through the Kongens Have garden, and saw the royal residences of Amalienborg palace. Amy met us in the city later in the afternoon, and we dined at Wagamama before heading to the airport to see him off. We had a nice time showing Fran around and comparing our experiences of adapting to a new culture, even though we did not make a big meal this time around.
