Store Bededag (Big Prayer Day)

Being a government employee, I had last Friday off work for May Day, but this week both Amy and I have the day off for Store Bededag, or Big Prayer Day. This is a national holiday in Denmark that was created in the 17th century by King Christian V, because he basically felt there were too many religious holidays throughout the year, so he cancelled all of them and started Big Prayer Day in their place. In any case, it's nice to have another day off during the beautiful spring season. Unfortunately, there isn't another national holiday until Christmas, so we're making sure to enjoy this one.
